The Lagos State government has reiterated total intolerance of illegal and reckless waste disposal, in unauthorized places.

This followed the arrest, preparatory to prosecution of some residents of Aboru in Alimosho, whose wards were recently caught emptying bags of trash in a drainage channel at the front of their home, during a recent heavy downpour, on the instructions of their parents.

Speaking on this, the Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, reminded residents of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s executive order on zero tolerance to environmental infractions, stressing that violators would be appropriately sanctioned under relevant environmental laws of the State, which forbade indiscriminate refuse disposal by residents.

He emphasized the need for residents to support efforts of the government in tackling the problem of flooding and other environmental hazards in the metropolis, by ensuring that they do not dispose refuse in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm human health. They are also enjoined to bag their wastes appropriately and patronize assigned PSP operators.

Dr. Gbadegesin said further that LAWMA had intensified the distribution of waste disposal bags under its Blue Box Initiative, for residents to sort their waste and dispose appropriately, through PSPs operating in their areas.

The LAWMA boss warned that under no circumstances should anyone dump refuse in drainage channels, medians, lagoons or any other unauthorised outlets.

He also advised residents to promptly contact the Authority using the toll-free line 07080601020, for complaints and relevant information.

  1. I simply want to mention I’m newbie to blogging and seriously savored your blog. Probably I’m likely to bookmark your website . You certainly come with incredible articles. Many thanks for revealing your blog site.

  2. I can’t imagine all the things we challenge ourselves with in life makes a difference.

At all times put in thinking about the numerous things that
we encounter every single and every day is going to be
really important, as no other man will confront your life for any of us.
Personally I think that men and women should be even more sane.
Technology is delightful, but a lot of everything we might know about is
so abstract. Having a cup of kava is a zen process that brings one back again to the present second.
We must become more in the here and now, without being stressed by life and the
theatre we face each day. http://njmassage.info/
