Kebbi state police command has announced the arrest of 9 volunteer vigilante in Zuru,the killers were arrested by the special anti robbery squad(SARS) sent by the command.
On the 23rd of March 2020,the vigilante in a reprisal attack killed scores of fulanis in the area suspected to have been kidnappers or cattle rustlers but unfortunately those killed by the vigilante were actually victims of cattle rustlers in the area.
Earlier, the state police command has warned all local vigilante against taking law into their hands hence their arrest by the police to send strong warning to those who harbour the idea of killing innocent members of the public in the name of retaliation.
Confirming the arrest of the vigilante the kebbi state police public relation officer Dsp Nafiu Abubakar said that,the suspect are in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are completed he warned members of the public to desist from taking law into their hands,he urged them to report to the police any suspicious movements to assist the police to secure the area,”self defence without proper investigation is not acceptable Nafiu said”.
