Kebbi Set For Argungu Fishing And International Festival.

After ten years  of unexplained  reasons for suspending the international  fishing that  annually  drew investors  and tourist  to kebbi State, the kebbi State  government under his excellency  Senator Atiku Bagudu has given a nod for the event to take  place in 2020.

The fishing festival  main committee was recently  inaugurated and is headed by the  deputy governor  colonel samaila yombe, the permanent  secretary ministry  of commerce Ahmed yarima  is to serve as secretary, the committee  also  included  some traditional  rulers from Argungu emirate  where the event will hold, the  committee  will  organise  and supervise from the beginning  to the end of the events.

The annual  event was once  introduced centuries  ago to mark  the end of hostilities  between  fulani and kabawa but it has now graduated to an international  event accepted at the world  stage as a tourist  hub.

Main  features of the events include kabanci display, car  race, swimming  competition, local boxing and local wrestling, others are  cultural  dances, camel and horse dubur  etc,all this takes place before the main fishing will is usually  attended by the sitting  president ,at the end  ofthe event person  who gets the biggest  fish will be declared  winner while others will smile home with consolation  prizes.
