A man who impersonate the Catholic priest of the Adoration ministry, Enugu, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka has been arrested by the police in Fegge Onitsha South LGA of Anambra State.
The fraudster was alleged to have swindled his victim a businessman N3million naira. The Fegge Divisional police officer, CSP Rabieu Garba who briefed newsmen in his office at Fegge on the effort of his Division to sanitize the commercial city of Onitsha, said the suspect is already in the police net helping them in their investigations.
He said over N2 million had so far recovered from the suspect while more effort is being made to recover the remaining amount.
He also raised the alarm that fraudsters have developed a new fraudulent methods of defrauding their victims at ATM Bank point through exchange of ATM cards while pretending to assist a customer.
Others send fake bank alert to their victims after deceiving them .
He said detectives from the Division had also arrested one of such syndicate who duped a building material dealer of N1.2 million worth of goods relocated to Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.
He also disclosed that cyber crime in and around the commercial city of onitsha is an endemic feature.
Against this back drop the Division has embarked on a search on all flash point, warning that any under aged child caught patronising betting out fit would be arrested.
He therefore appealed to parents and guardians to be watchful about their Children and wards.
